Sheffield Lake Mayor Rocky Radeff said the first festival was a great start to building the community and providing great events.

“It was great,” Radeff said. “Everyone I spoke to had a great time.

“You saw people of all ages. All who entered rejoiced. The food trucks were full all night. It was great to be on the lake, but of course most importantly, I was thankful for the vendors coming.

“The city workers did a wonderful job of setting things up and putting things together. Overall, I thought it was a great start to many more events to come.”

The idea for the Food Truck Festival came from a similar event that took place during the April 8 total solar eclipse, Radeff said.

Radeff said he conducted a survey for the city on what people wanted to have in community events.

Robinson Family Soaps had a nice little food truck event during the eclipse that was well attended, he said.

People who attended that solar eclipse event indicated that the city needs to do this more often, Radeff said.

In addition to community building, Radeff and the city want to promote local businesses.

The long-term goal of the city’s community events program is to make Sheffield Lake a stronger home for its residents and a destination for all, the mayor said.

After the Food Truck Festival, Radeff said he hopes to host citywide movie nights and other events at the community center.

The next big event in Sheffield Lake is Community Days, which takes place July 20-23 at the Shoreway Shopping Center, located on the corner of Lake and Lake Breeze roads.
