Man United sent damning Antony transfer message as clear in reality £86m

Most Manchester United fans interviewed by Manchester Evening News would like to see winger Antony sold this summer, the club could cut their losses with a sale.

Aer has been with United since joining from Ajax in the summer of 2022. The deal saw United pay a fee of £86m to the Dutch side, but so far he has not lived up to expectations.

Last season, the 24-year-old scored just once in 29 Premier League appearances, that goal coming in a 1-1 draw with Burnley in April. He was an unused substitute in the final two league games of the season as well as the FA Cup final win against Manchester City.

Antony’s performances have seen his estimated value drop significantly to £21 million, the joint biggest drop in value in world football over the course of the season. However, that hasn’t stopped United fans from making their feelings known about the decision United should make this summer.

According to fans polled by MEN Sport in a keep or sell poll, just 12,347 out of 67,637 supporters polled (18.25%) would want Antony to stay at Old Trafford in the new season. The remaining 55,326 (81.75%) want the winger to be sold in the current transfer window.

The problem for the club will be if they decide to sell, getting as much money back as possible. Antony has three years left on his current contract and no club have been linked with an interest in the winger. If they are to sell this summer, then United would probably have to take a large forfeiture fee that they paid for him just two years ago.
