Grab the popcorn and listen to Headstart Kernow’s new parent and caregiver education series

Forget Netflix, parents and caregivers looking for the next show to dive into, look no further than Headstart Kernow’s new parenting series.

This is the second series the HeadStart team has produced following a super successful ‘Series 1’ in 2021 which focused on health and wellbeing and has reached over 46,000 people to date.

There are 21 video workshops prepared for the new series, each with a specific focus and featuring education experts from across Cornwall Council’s Together for Families (TFF) service.

Topics range from SEND (special educational needs and disabilities), applying for a school place and school attendance to optional home education and care.

They were filmed live and will be uploaded to the TFF Facebook page over five weeks from Monday 1 July at 7pm.

Every Friday we will record and release a short video letting you know what’s coming up next week, but don’t worry if there are times you can’t connect, go to the HeadStart Kernow website to watch the recording and catch. to any others you may have missed.

Ness Little, HeadStart Digital Resilience, Parent, Career & Family Lead, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to present ‘Series 2’, which has been produced with the help of our fantastic Together for Families colleagues here at the council, particularly those who support families in education-related areas.”

“Join us for what promises to be an exciting and engaging journey, listening and learning from local experts who really know what they’re talking about. Our hope is that together we can create a supportive community dedicated to the well-being and success of our children.”

Anyone can watch the sessions and each one is designed to:

  • Provide valuable resources, strategies and guidance from local experts.
  • Increase your knowledge and confidence in managing your child’s education.

Ness added:

“We are fully committed to supporting parents and carers throughout the journey of raising a child. Our sessions aim to empower and provide the information, tools and strategies needed to navigate the education system and help our children thrive. We also had a lot of fun recording them, so I hope that shows! Why not check out the TFF Facebook page on Monday 1st July and try them out? Popcorn and pick ‘n’ mix are of course optional!”

Headstart Kernow offers training courses and events, information, signposting, resources and more to help build resilience and mental wellbeing for children and young people.
