Magennis joins Greeks – Exeter Today

New Greek Josh Magennis gave his first interview since joining the club on Thursday afternoon.

Northern Ireland international Magennis, who joins the club following his release from Wigan Athletic at the end of last season, heads to Devon looking to be an experienced boss in the squad and make an impact at his new club.

“This has been in the works for a while and the communication has been nothing but positive throughout, so it feels really good to get it over the line,” Josh said.

“Conversation and I think there’s a lot more to football games than the 90 minutes and he reiterated the dynamic he expects from me in the dressing room whether I’m playing or not.

“This is me helping young people and pushing others forward as well as helping my own career. I was lucky enough to be captain (at Wigan) last season and I enjoyed that role, I enjoy wearing the mantle of being a senior player so hopefully I can use that as a positive.

In a recent interview, Magennis shared his ambition to reach 100 caps for his country – he currently has 79 caps – and feels St James Park is the perfect place to play his football and fulfill the dream
