Live after police closed Leicester Street – updates

A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said police were “looking closely at the road surface”. They said: “I was waiting to go back into Cranmer Street, where I live, when I heard a ton of sirens and then an ambulance and loads of police cars seemed to come out of nowhere and come up the street.

“They stopped about a third of the way. And then the police recorded tape from the end of the street at the junction with Hinckley Road. The ambulance has now left but the street is still blocked and the police are looking closely at the road surface and photographing things.

“They have sprayed red paint on the road and are looking very closely at one of the cars parked on the street.”
