The Liverpool businessman watched the World in One City tour and knew what to do

A businessman from Liverpool knew what he had to do after watching the World in One City tournament.

Kal Mohamed took over the management of the family business that started over 45 years ago. His father arrived from Yemen and soon after started a newsagent in the Anfield area.




The 48-year-old has been in the family business all his life. About 30 years ago, the newspaper tenant also went into the fireworks trade and has since grown both businesses.

Kal told the ECHO: “My dad came here in the late 1970s and opened a newsagent, on Breck Road. He grew the business and worked very hard, and I followed in his footsteps.

“I loved the shop game and I’ve been in the trade most of my life. He taught me what to do and I implemented it and moved it forward.

“About 30 years ago we, well, got into the fireworks game (Anfield Fireworks). I love fireworks, I’m obsessed with them, I’ve been doing them all my life.”
