Manchester United vs Arsenal live early team news, how to watch and goal and score updates

Manchester United will be aiming for a much-needed win when they welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford in the Premier League this afternoon.

United slumped to a record 13th Premier League defeat since last season, losing 4-0 to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. As a result, they have now won just two of their last 10 league games.

The Reds are now eighth in the table and their hopes of qualifying for any European competition next season through their league position are in doubt. They are currently three points behind both sixth-placed Newcastle United and Chelsea, who played yesterday.

It means Erik ten Hag’s men are in desperate need of three points this afternoon. However, Arsenal are still in contention for the title and know that a win for them will take them back to the top and above Manchester City.

United need three points today

Following Chelsea’s dramatic win over Nottingham Forest last night and Newcastle United’s 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion earlier in the day, United are now three points behind both clubs in the race for European qualification.

Chelsea have capitalized on United’s woes in recent weeks, winning each of their last three games, scoring 10 goals in the process. Nobody would have predicted that Chelsea would finish above the Reds just a few weeks ago.

United need to pull something out of their hat this afternoon and get back on level terms with their nearest rivals. However, such is the quality of the opposition, it might be a task easier said than done.
