Manchester City now poach Edu Gaspar for ‘talented’ player who even ‘visited Arsenal’

Arsenal have been dealt a blow as their move for a top youngster was diverted at the last minute by Manchester City.

Arsenal are aiming to boost the quality of their Hale End academy by signing top young talent and have recently confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Lucas Martin-Nygaard.

It has been reported in recent months that Arsenal have come close to a coup by signing Ryan McAidoo from Chelsea straight from their academy. The midfielder had received offers from several clubs, but Arsenal were considered the frontrunners until now.

Manchester City have hijacked Arsenal’s deal for Chelsea star Ryan McAidoo

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Manchester City have hijacked Arsenal’s move for McAidoo, with the youngster choosing the Etihad Stadium as his next destination.

“Ryan McAidoo is leaving Chelsea to join Manchester City. Talented striker born in 2008 decides to join City, deal hijacked after proposals from other top Premier League clubs. Deal in place and huge talent for Man City Academy,” he posted on X.

It was also revealed that McAidoo even ‘visited’ Arsenal’s training ground ahead of a potential move, but Edu Gaspar will now be frustrated that the deal could not be completed.

“We visited Arsenal but a deal was already in place with Man City,” posted user X TheSecretScout.

McAidoo will now join Man City, but given the quality in their side, first-team action seems a long way off.

However, he could yet follow the path of Romeo Lavia or James Trafford as Man City youngsters who then see their values rise when bought by Premier League sides.

Had he joined Arsenal, he could have turned into a player who either showed the quality to join Mikel Arteta’s side and compete with Bukayo Saka, or he could have earned Arsenal a terrific transfer with interest from elsewhere.

Omari Hutchinson joined Ipswich for a significant fee from Chelsea, Arsenal are well aware of the youngster’s potential to earn huge fees and if McAidoo becomes a Premier League talent they could end up regretting not getting him now.
