Aston Villa duo in line for loan at Real Union

Aston Villa youngsters Sil Swinkels and James Wright could join Real Union on loan this summer.

Both youngsters signed new contracts earlier this year and have been earmarked for potential moves to the Spanish third-tier side, who join V Sports’ growing network of clubs in 2023. Josh Feeney and Tommi O’Reilly were the first two players who joined Real. Union since January.




Feeney made eight appearances for Real Union last season and started five times, while O’Reilly featured in two games after picking up an injury shortly after arriving on loan. Villa could send a number of players to Real Union this summer, two of whom are believed to be defender Swinkels and goalkeeper Wright.

Dutch centre-back Sil Swinkels signed a new contract with the club in May after struggling with injury during the 2023/24 campaign, before returning in April to help the under-21 side reach the play-offs in Premier League 2 and win Birmingham Senior. Cup.

Academy manager Mark Harrison said of Swinkels: “He’s shown a lot of resilience to bounce back from his injury and since doing so he’s shown a lot of potential and maturity in his performances.

“He has an outstanding attitude and is well deserving of this new contract. We look forward to seeing how he develops in the coming seasons.”
