Coventrians can apply for a new subsidy amid the cost of living crisis

COVENTRY residents can apply for grants from the Household Support Fund as the cost of living rises.

As the cost of living continues to rise, Coventry City Council is extending its support for residents through the Household Support Fund (HSF), thanks to a grant extension by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) until 30 September 2024.

This scheme aims to provide financial assistance to households experiencing significant hardship.

The HSF is designed to support households with extreme financial need, particularly those who may not qualify for other government assistance programs.

Residents can apply for grants to cover essential expenses including food, fuel, energy bills and other necessities.

This extension includes support for households previously deemed ineligible after receiving cost of living payments.

Laura Waller, digital services and inclusion officer at Coventry City Council, said: “The price of energy, food and bills are rising and many people in the city are worried about their finances.

“It is vital that there are services in Coventry that can help in these times of need.

“The Council’s priority is to support our residents in these difficult times and we are committed to getting essential financial assistance to households as quickly as possible to improve the lives of our people in Coventry.”

Support applications must be submitted online.

For those who require assistance with the application process, help is available by calling 08085 834333 or visiting the customer service center at Broadgate House.
