Kasabian in ‘top form’ as they play ‘secret show’ at Glastonbury Festival – in pictures

Kasabian were in ‘top form’ as they performed a ‘secret set’ at Glastonbury Festival yesterday (Saturday 29 June). The Leicester band played to a packed crowd on the Woodsies stage after days of speculation that there would be a ‘secret show’ listed as TBA on stage.

Closing the set with ‘Wires’, rockets were fired into the crowd as thousands turned up for the concert in the marquee on the southeast corner of the Worthy Farm. Many fans waited hours at the Woodsies stage to be up front after rumors of Kasabian’s secret set were confirmed by the band on social media.

The band belted out songs such as Fatboy Slim’s Praise You and The Prodigy’s Firestarter during their set, while playing classics including LSF and You’re In Love With A Psycho. The ‘secret set’ came a week before the band play Leicester’s Victoria Park in Kasabian: Summer Solstice II next Saturday (July 6).

Kelly Watson, from Belper, Derbyshire, waited three hours to be in front of the crowd with her friends. “We got here early and saw the band before it wasn’t our cup of tea but they were really good – we were here for three hours but it was so worth it,” the 38-year-old told the PA news agency. .

Ms Watson was joined by her friend Robyn Hixon, 38, who is also from Belper originally but flew from her home in Australia to be at the gig. “They’re the best band in the world and I dragged all my friends to see them because they’re my favorite band,” she told PA.

“I’m so glad they just witnessed what I saw.” Everton manager Sean Dyche, who was backstage at the gig, told news agency PA that he felt Sergio Pizzorno had brought a “new energy” to the band since the departure of former frontman Tom Meighan.

“I thought I was in top form, Serg has brought a new energy, a different energy,” Dyche said.
