Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Anthony Gordon and Caoimhin Kelleher ‘change’, Leny Yoro twists

Liverpool’s transfer news came to life yesterday when it emerged that there could be a chance to land Anthony Gordon. And that has come with a ticking clock as Newcastle try to do enough business before the close of play today to escape its gap in profitability and sustainability regulations.

An initial proposal involved Jarell Quansah going the other way, which Liverpool rejected out of hand. But the Reds could use other weights in the deal, with Caoimhin Kelleher plus a cash option reportedly being explored.

The Irish stopper is believed to be keen on a move this summer anyway. He excelled last season in Alisson’s absence and is now ready to be number one at Premier League level.

No doubt this complicated Gordon deal, with all its moving parts, will be the focus of the day with the deadline looming. But other things happen, with a twist in the Leny Yoro saga.

Kvaratskhelia wants a move to the Premier League

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia wants a move to the Premier League, a source close to the Georgia international’s camp has said (via the ECHO).

Liverpool are the only team verified as being in the race for the Napoli star, although the Reds apparently face competition:

Liverpool have been linked with Kvaratskhelia, but two other Premier League clubs want him. He turned down PSG because he wants to come to England.

Liverpool gave Archie Gray a boost

Leeds have rejected Brentford’s $51m (£40m) bid for Archie Gray, according to BBC Sport.

The 18-year-old traveled to London on Saturday for a medical but the two clubs were unable to agree a deal.

Liverpool are said to remain interested in Gray, along with Chelsea and Tottenham. Leeds must sell players this summer after missing out on promotion back to the Premier League.

Shortened Pitaluga loan

Liverpool goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga has been loaned out to Ireland after just seven appearances.

The 21-year-old moved to St Patrick’s Athletic in January and was set to stay at the club for the duration of the All-Ireland season, which runs from February to November.

St Patrick’s boss Stephen Kenny however confirmed on Friday that Pitaluga is returning to Liverpool early.

We said goodbye to Marcelo, a great guy and a good career ahead of him I think.

Liverpool are ‘chasing’ Arne’s favorite in the slot

Liverpool want to sign Igor Paixao from Feyenoord this summer, according to Globo Esporte.

Arne Slot knows the Brazilian well from his time in Rotterdam and the report from South America suggests that the 24-year-old is being watched by the Reds as well as several other clubs in Europe.

Paixao even addressed rumors surrounding his future and name-checked Liverpool as he left the door open to a potential move.

Real Madrid’s plan for Yoro

Real Madrid hope to have a deal in place for Leny Yoro before the start of pre-season, according to Diario AS.

The race is on for the Lille defender, who is expected to leave the French club soon, with his contract expiring next summer.

Liverpool are tracking the 18-year-old, although Yoro is believed to be waiting for Madrid.

Rodrygo doubts arise

Rodrygo is losing confidence that he will have a starting place at Real Madrid next season, according to Sport.

Kylian Mbappe’s arrival at the Bernabeu could limit the Brazilian’s chances, with Rodrygo said to fear the French star will drift to the wings.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old, although it would almost certainly cost the Reds a hefty fee.

Gordon ‘open’ to Liverpool move

Anthony Gordon is open to joining Liverpool, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It looks like the Reds could revive talks for the Newcastle star, although their chances of landing him now look much slimmer, with the Magpies closing in on deals to sell Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson to Brighton and Nottingham Forest respectively.

Gordon could be interested in a move to Anfield – he has previously dropped hints that he is a Liverpool fan. Read more here.

Agreement Archie Gray agreed

Archie Gray looks set to join one of Liverpool’s Premier League rivals, with BBC Sport claiming a deal has been agreed with Brentford.

The Leeds United star had been linked with a move to Anfield but now appears to be undergoing a medical in London.

The deal could reach $51m (£40m) with add-ons, making Gray a record signing for Brentford.

Dean Huijsen set price

Juventus have set their price for Dean Huijsen this summer, according to Mirko Di Natale.

The Italian club are said to be reluctant to part with the 19-year-old defender and will only do so for at least $32m (£25m/€30m).

Liverpool have been linked with Huijsen, with PSG and Bayern Munich said to be leading the race. Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Stuttgart are said to be monitoring the situation.

Liverpool ‘first in line’ for Georgian hero

Liverpool are interested in signing Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili this summer, according to Marca (via Sport Witness).

The Reds are said to be “first in line” for the Valencia stopper, who impressed at Euro 2024 and will be in action later today against Spain.

However, Newcastle have also been linked, with Valencia said to have turned down a bid from the Magpies.

Bologna “ready” to sell Calafiori

Bologna are ready to sell Riccardo Calafiori this summer, according to The Sunday People (via Paisley Gates).

Liverpool are said to be interested in the defender, who could now become available after Italy were knocked out of Euro 2024 on Saturday.

Chelsea and Arsenal are also said to be in the running and Bologna are said to be encouraging bids from interested clubs.

Kimmich ‘not interested’ in Liverpool move

Joshua Kimmich is not interested in joining Liverpool this summer and has his heart set on a move to Manchester City instead, according to the Daily Star (via Express ).

Liverpool have been linked with the Germany international, who could soon leave Bayern Munich, with the German club unwilling to extend his contract beyond 2025.

However, Kimmich is ready to reject any offers from the Reds or Arsenal in favor of a move to City.

Does Anthony Gordon hope it ends?

In case you missed it last night, Liverpool’s chances of signing Anthony Gordon may now be over after Newcastle managed to offload two of their players.

Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson both made their way to Brighton and Nottingham Forest respectively, easing Newcastle’s PSR concerns somewhat.

The PSR deadline is today, which gave Liverpool the opportunity to try and pounce to secure Gordon, but with Newcastle doing other business, it looks like those hopes may be over. Read the full story here.

Real Madrid will not budge on Yoro’s price

Real Madrid have decided they will pay no more than $43m (£34m/€40m) for Leny Yoro. That’s according to Spanish outlet Marca.

It is based on the player’s preference for the Bernabeu to get a deal over the line. But Liverpool and other suitors are prepared to pay a higher price, leaving Lilla with a dilemma.

Los Blancos are ready to walk away from a deal if it proves necessary. Riccardo Calafiori is lined up as Real Madrid’s ‘Plan B’.

Gordon and Kelleher ‘change’

Liverpool are set to test Newcastle United’s resolve with a $63m (£50m/€59m) plus Caoimhin Kelleher bid for Anthony Gordon. That’s according to TeamTalk.

The Reds earlier declined the option to use Jarell Quansah in any trade for Gordon. But it seems they are exploring other ways of doing business.

Newcastle are believed to remain under pressure from PSR ahead of today’s deadline despite agreeing to sell Yankuba Minteh to Brighton.
