There were two Scottish wins to cheer in the Para events earlier in the afternoon.

The first, Steven Bryce took on all competitors to win the Men’s 1500m Ambulatory race.

Steven also won over this distance at Loughborough International and had enough to hold off the others down the stretch to post 4:03.31 (Season Best).

“It’s great to get the gold medal again,” Steven said.

“I really attacked the race and used the power I worked so hard on and it paid off.”

This was quickly followed by a strong push from the side Samantha Kinghorn for victory in the women’s 400m wheelchair race. Melanie Woods made it a 1-2 Scot in terms of podium finishes there.

“I’m happy with that performance and the time of 54.55 is good for this track – the surface here is not one I like that much,” said Sammi, with Melanie in 56.98.

“What I liked was the atmosphere and the crowd in the stadium. Even walking after the race and being cheered on reminds me why I do this.
