Broad Street disturbance at 4am as man went to hospital with ‘life-changing’ injuries.

A reveler suffered potentially life-changing injuries while another man was also injured after trouble broke out at 4am in Birmingham city centre. Both men were arrested following the disturbance on Broad Street today, Sunday 12 May.

West Midlands Police said an incident broke out at the junction of Oozells Way and Broad Street. A 26-year-old man suffered life-changing injuries to his chest and head. While a 23-year-old man suffered a facial injury, which is not believed to be serious.




Both men were taken to hospital for treatment and arrested on suspicion of affray. Police inquiries continue.

In a statement, police said: “We are appealing for information after a disturbance broke out in Broad Street, Birmingham, in the early hours of this morning (May 12). The incident happened at the junction of Ozells Way and Broad Street at around 4am. .

“A 26-year-old man suffered life-changing injuries to his chest and head. A second man, aged 23, suffered a facial injury, which is not believed to be serious.

“They were both taken to hospital for treatment and arrested on suspicion of affray. The men will be interviewed in due course as our inquiries continue.
