Police have revealed a new arrest has been made after two young women died in a house fire. West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation after the two women, who have not been identified but were in their 20s, died in the house fire in Wolverhampton.

Detectives say they have arrested a third man as their investigations into the Dunstall Hill fire continue. Four other people were taken to hospital, three were not seriously injured, but one woman remains in serious condition.

A cordon remains around the house as police work with firefighters to establish the cause of the fire which broke out at 2am yesterday morning (May 11).

Chief Superintendent Richard Fisher, from Wolverhampton LPA, said: “Two women have tragically lost their lives and our thoughts are with their loved ones at this deeply distressing time.

“We know how distressing this is for everyone in the community and we are working as sensitively as we can to find out the cause of this terrible fire.

“This is a very active investigation and it’s important that we do everything we can to get answers to what happened.”
