Leeds United have warned of summer transfer plans for Crysencio Summerville at Elland Road

Promotion will secure Crysencio Summerville’s future at Leeds United, but a failure by Daniel Farke to step up will almost certainly see their talisman leave, according to Simon Grayson. On Sunday, the Dutch winger was crowned the Championship’s Player of the Season to further underline his talents as a cut above the second tier.

After 17 goals and eight assists in a side that shared the scoring and creating burdens, only three players have contributed more league goals this season. Summerville’s contract expires in 2026, meaning Leeds, should he not be promoted, would have to sell him this summer or risk losing both his value and his business.

Grayson, who managed the Whites between 2008 and 2012, is confident Premier League football at Elland Road will see a smooth transition into his next term with Summerville. The player and the club would probably see the benefit of the split if it is the Championship again, the 54-year-old believes.

“Crysencio Summerville has been great this season for Leeds United and if they get to the Premier League there will be no problems keeping him as he can fulfill his ambition to play in the Premier League with a very big football club.” he told Betway. “If for whatever reason they don’t, then Leeds, by their own choice, but perhaps by the player’s choice, will lose some of their best players because of financial constraints and also the club’s ambitions.

“However, he has to finish the season in a real positive way. He has struggled the last two games only because teams are concerned about the threat of what he can do.

“Sometimes he has two or three players around him, but that is a sign of the level of quality he has brought to the EFL with Leeds all season.”
