A care home in Wiltshire hosted its own mini festival for its residents.

The event ran from Friday to Sunday – the same dates as Glastonbury Festival – at Goodson Lodge in Trowbridge.

Maisie, a care home resident, said: “It was really good and the work done is fantastic. (I had) all these wonderful things to eat and drink.”

The festival featured an eclectic lineup of local bands and solo artists, covering a wide range of genres from rock to jazz and samba to karaoke.

Headline acts included Ukulele Piddle, Sweet Silent Disco, Alpine Stompers Bavarian Band, Calne Silver Band, local drag queen Miss Luscious Lips Lucy, NJ Dance Group and guitarist James Hogg.

“Music is incredibly important to residents living with dementia,” said Alex Goodson, Events Manager at Goodson Lodge.

“It can help them express their feelings and ideas and improve their well-being.”

The festival offered a variety of activities and food for residents and their families.

Residents enjoyed activities such as circus skills, farm animals from the Chloe Mobile Farm and face painting.

There was also ice cream, cake, coffee, gin vans and a barbecue.

“I wanted to create a fun and memorable experience for residents, many of whom have fond memories of concerts and music festivals from their youth,” Mr Goodson said.
