The Met Office has issued a 10-hour weather warning for thunderstorms

On the back of the hottest day of the year for many places yesterday, weather experts have warned there will be storms this afternoon.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the Midlands.

The warning said: “Heavy showers and thunderstorms could lead to some disruption in some places, especially for travel. Flooding of isolated property is possible.

“Sprinkling and flash flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

“There could be power outages and other services for some homes and businesses could be lost.

“Where there is flooding or lightning, there is the chance of delays and some cancellations of train and bus services.

“Flooding to homes and businesses could occur quickly, with some buildings damaged by floodwaters, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

“A rapid flow or deep flood, causing danger to life, is possible.”

Thunderstorms could hit between 1:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
