Police are looking for a London teenager who went missing from her home 8 days ago

Police are urgently looking for a 16-year-old girl from south-west London who has been missing for more than a week.

Julia Skala left her home in Mitcham at around 1pm last Monday (January 8).

She was reported missing the next morning and Scotland Yard opened an investigation.

Police have since carried out an “extensive” search but have been unable to find her and are increasingly “concerned for her welfare”, the Met Police said on Tuesday.

“Over the last eight days, officers have carried out extensive enquiries, including the recovery of CCTV from the area and house-to-house enquiries,” a Met Police spokesman said.

Julia was wearing a black North Face jacket, black pants and white Nike trainers when she was last seen. She was carrying a black Nike backpack.

Superintendent Josh Laughton, from South West London’s local policing team, said: “Julia’s family told us it was unusual for her to be away from home for such a long time.

“While there is no evidence to suggest she has suffered harm, we are increasingly concerned for her welfare.

“We are using a number of tactics to trace the movements of a missing person, however despite our enquiries, we still have no indication of her whereabouts.

“Julia has links to Lambeth, Camden and Islington. He would probably have traveled by public transport. I would ask anyone who thinks they may have seen her in the last week to come forward immediately.”
