‘I can’t make that decision’ – Jurgen Klopp reveals Alisson talks in first post-Liverpool interview

Jurgen Klopp avoided upsetting any of his former Liverpool players by refusing to pick a potential winner for Euro 2024 and the Copa America.

Various members of the Reds’ first-team squad are still competing at international level as they look to secure silverware this summer before returning to Merseyside.

Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold remain with England at the Euros, as do Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk (Netherlands), Diogo Jota (Portugal) and Ibrahima Konate (France).

Alexis Mac Allister, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have each led their countries to the quarter-finals of the Copa America, with Alisson Becker set to join them, barring a highly unlikely scenario that could see Costa Rica overcome Brazil on second place in Group D.

Asked to give his thoughts on who could win both competitions, Klopp was noncommittal when sharing his take on the Euros. “At the moment it looks like Spain could do it. Germany is good, France will be good, England will definitely be better,” the German said.
