LONDON (Reuters) – Asda, the British supermarket arm of Wal-Mart, is to cut 300 jobs at its offices in Leeds, northern England, and Leicester, central England, as it seeks to cut costs to remain competitive, it said Wednesday. The firm said it is adapting the way its offices operate to support its store. “These changes impact around 1,100 roles… and unfortunately result in around 300 colleagues leaving,” Asda said. Last month, Asda reported its first rise in underlying quarterly sales in three years and said its turnaround from the ground up under a new management team was working.
