Liverpool could scupper Arsenal’s Alexander Isak transfer plan with shock £100m move

Liverpool could disrupt Arsenal’s plans to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United during the summer transfer window. The Swedish forward has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium as Newcastle could be forced to sell due to financial Fair Play pressures.

Next summer could see a flurry of Premier League transfers, with high-profile players expected to switch clubs. A potential deal to send Isak to Arsenal has been suggested given Newcastle’s need to balance their books.

However, Liverpool could throw a spanner in the works for Arsenal if they decide to splash out on another key Newcastle player. According to the Daily Star, Liverpool are considering a surprise move for former Everton player Anthony Gordon.

Gordon has impressed since his £45m move to Newcastle, contributing 23 goals in just over 60 appearances. His performances earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, making him a strong contender for selection for the upcoming tournament in Germany.

The 23-year-old has consequently attracted the attention of Liverpool, who are identifying potential targets for their first summer transfer window following the departure of Jurgen Klopp. However, if the 2019/20 Premier League champions want to convince Newcastle to sell, they will likely have to offer a substantial nine-figure sum, reports the Express.

The Magpies are said to be holding out for £100million for the Player of the Season. This could throw a wrench into Arsenal’s pursuit of Isak if Liverpool decide to splash the cash.
