The transfer window is now becoming a hive of activity as teams try to take advantage of a march against their rivals and wrap up and seal early deals.

A busy weekend saw a host of clubs snap up seals as the deadline set to meet Financial Fair Play regulations loomed over many heads.

The likes of Chelsea and Aston Villa were forced into the market, resulting in a number of knock-on effects.

As a new week begins, the wheels turn on Manchester United as the INEOS team work hard to get the first bids – hopefully of many – over the line.

On Merseyside, Liverpool chiefs are locked in negotiations to secure a first signing for new boss Arne Slot, while in north London Arsenal are finding their transfer dealings rather difficult.

Express Sport brings you the latest updates and twists as it happens LIVE.

Arsenal are stuck on the wing

Arsenal have yet to lock in and make concrete moves for PSV ace Johan Bakayoko.

The Gunners are still assessing their options as Bakayoko is being targeted by a number of clubs this summer – with the Belgian starlet known to be available for a transfer.

Talking to Givemesporttransfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are biding their time.

While Arsenal have been known to be monitoring the youngster for some time, the deal at this stage remains something that is considered ‘not imminent’.

Man Utd save big money

They need to start spending as soon as possible, but United has made strong progress in saving money.

As the clock turned to midnight on July 1, the contracts of six Manchester United players expired, wiping around £42 million from the club’s annual wage bill.

And the end of the PSR 2023/24 window on the same night gave Sir Jim Ratcliffe more freedom to make the first signs of his regime.

United are believed to have remained in line with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability (PSR) rules over the past year.

But while INEOS have been active in the background, they have undoubtedly been held back from making any concrete moves in the first few weeks of the summer transfer window.
