Leeds United are said to poach the star from promotion rivals

attacker joined Coventry City in 2020 after a temporary period at Carlisle United and progress through the Aston Villa academy. After a successful 2019 loan spell with the Midlands side, they won promotion back to the Championship.

At the Sky Blues, the striker excelled. Performances against high level opposition such as Leicester City and Manchester United highlights his qualities. Despite this, his time was marred by injuries such as that ACL injury in 2022.

His brilliant performances made Mark Robins’ team a major success. His side won League One, reached the Championship play-off final and narrowly lost in the FA Cup semi-final.

With the 26-year-old out of contract, many clubs have been linked with the Englishman’s services. Leeds United have been linked with the midfielder as they look to build on their disappointing last campaign.

O’Hare’s former teammate, Alan Hutton, when speaking with Football Insider reported that Leeds are targeting his former colleague as a direct replacement for Crysencio Summerville.

Following the Whites’ defeat to Southampton in the play-off final, a new transfer strategy has been identified. Daniel Farke’s side are looking for cheaper and more effective players due to last season’s wage costs and budgets.

This led former goalkeeper of the Whites Paul Robinson to say:

“Leeds are looking at players who won’t cost a lot of money at the moment and obviously O’Hare fits into that category.

“We don’t know yet what will happen with players like Summerville and Gnonto – O’Hare doesn’t come into that part now but he does if they are sold.

“The most important thing for Daniel Farke is to be aware and talk to the board about what they have available.

“It’s nothing new – last season Leeds will have run a Premier League budget and a Championship budget and Farke will have an idea of who will be there and who won’t be there next season.

“They’re going to have areas of recruiting that they have to look at, but it’s just numbers that they’re not going to be sure of.

“If Summerville leave, for example, they don’t yet know what fee they will receive and how much of that can be reinvested in the team, which is why they are currently looking at free and low-fee signings. So I can definitely see O’Hare signing for Leeds after Summerville is sold.”

Championship level players will therefore be a focal point. Because of O’Hare’s end of contract, he fits the established policy to fight for the league.

The writer’s vision

Overall, this would be a great signing for Daniel Farke’s side. Lower wages and no transfer fee mean O’Hare can become a prominent figure for the Yorkshire side this season.

As for the 26-year-old, this is a great opportunity to become a mainstay for a potential Premier League side. However, he has become a hero at Coventry and few would begrudge him committing his future to the club. He knows he will remain a regular under Mark Robins, but a trial at a club the size of Leeds might suit him at this stage of his career.
