Tell us how Gareth Southgate’s England can win Euro 2024

England reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 thanks to a Harry Kane header in extra time against Slovakia. Despite being one of the pre-tournament favourites, their performance was less than stellar.

We ask that you share your thoughts in the comments section – what does Gareth Southgate need to do to ensure an easier trip to the final?

The Three Lions are set to face Switzerland on Saturday, July 6, at 5:00 p.m. The Swiss side are riding high after a strong performance in the group stage, even managing to beat defending champions Italy 2-0 en route to the quarter-finals.

Southgate’s side topped a low-scoring group with a win and two draws. They narrowly avoided a humiliating round of 16 exit at the hands of Slovakia, who are ranked the 45th best team in the world according to FIFA.

A spectacular goal from Jude Bellingham kept England in the game, with Harry Kane securing victory early in extra time.

Despite dominating possession and completing almost twice as many passes as their opponents, England struggled to pose a threat, managing just two shots on target.

Southgate faced criticism for his slow response in bringing on substitutes when the team was behind. However, when Cole Palmer, Eberechi Eze and Ivan Toney were finally called up, they had a positive impact on the game.

England’s players are putting up a positive front despite a whirlwind of opinion about their key men. Kane, who confronted the media about the harsh censorship of players earlier in the tournament, said Bellingham’s goal was “one of the best in the history of our country”.
