Pictures of horrifically injured Willie Isa as Castleford Tigers ace faces big charge

Castleford Tigers prop Sylvester Namo faces a significant ban after receiving an F-grade dangerous contact charge Papua New Guinea face a minimum six-match ban if found guilty of the charge at a hearing of court on Tuesday night.

The tackle in question saw Wigan Warriors’ Willie Isa suffer a horrific injury, with the forward suffering a broken and dislocated ankle. It came after Namo joined a tackle as the third man as Isa carried the ball from his own half.

Footage of the incident has now emerged online, sparking debate among supporters. Namo can be seen going into the tackle before his knees finally land on Isa’s ankle, which ultimately causes the injury. It will be determined on Tuesday whether or not Namo has to answer for his actions or if it was simply a natural rugby accident.

Warning: Video recordings contain graphic damage

The result will be significant for Namo and Castleford as a guilty plea would see him miss a long period of the season. Namo, who was not punished during the game for the incident, has only recently been able to pull on a Tigers jersey after recovering from an ACL injury he suffered before joining the club.

The 23-year-old has been capped four times by the Kumuls during his career and impressed in the Queensland Cup playing for Townsville last year.
