Euro 2024 star drops major hint on transfer plan after links with Liverpool

Giorgi Mamardashvili has reportedly closed the door on a move to Liverpool despite recent speculation linking him to the Reds.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper has been one of the stars of Euro 2024 so far, helping Georgia defy the odds to reach the knockout stages in their first appearance at a major finals. While they suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Spain in the Round of 16, they produced a famous 2-0 win over Portugal to qualify for such a stage and were one of the good stories of the tournament.

Most memorably keeping a clean sheet against the Portuguese, Mamardashvili has been linked with a number of high-profile clubs in recent weeks – including Liverpool.

“Bayern still have the best goalkeeper in the world,” he told Sky Sports in Germany when asked about a possible move to Bayern Munich. “Therefore, it is currently not possible to move there.

“I would only go there if I was going to play. If I don’t play, then I don’t.”
