Liverpool suffered another transfer blow as Fabrizio Romano dropped confirmation of ‘here we go’.

Liverpool have suffered yet another blow in the summer transfer window as teenage sensation Archie Gray is set to complete a move to Tottenham.

Fabrizio Romano has given his trademark ‘here we go’ to the imminent switch, with Spurs agreeing a £40m transfer fee for the 18-year-old midfielder.

Fans were assured at the time that Gray would remain in West Yorkshire, with his family believing Elland Road remained the best place for him to develop.

Intriguingly, it seems minds have changed. It can only be assumed assurances of game time have been offered to the Durham-born player ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

It looks like Gray won’t be developing any time soon under the watchful eye of Arne Slot. He will certainly have no part to play in the Reds’ first league clash against Ipswich Town in August or any other exciting fixture on the Merseysiders’ calendar. This includes January’s clash with Manchester United, for which fans can buy tickets here.

The good news is that our interest in Leny Yoro is indeed legitimate.

The bad news? I am Real Madrid very passionate about generational talent for 18 years. Even worse? The player is keen on a potential move to the Spanish capital this summer.

All that stands in the way now is the defender’s transfer fee. According to Forbes, Lille would like to increase their asking price to around £50.9-59.3m.

You can understand Madrid’s reluctance to pay such a fee given that Yoro will be available for free next year when his contract expires.

Equally, however, given the cap on offer with the young centre-back, Lille can justify taking a hard line when it comes to losing the player this summer.

Someone, somewhere, you’d think, would be prepared to pay that amount. It remains to be seen whether Los Blancos can bridge the gap enough to secure the teenager’s signature before Yoro, his entourage and Lille run out of patience.

We learned today that Liverpool are not prepared to lose top talent, even if it means we get Anthony Gordon this summer.

Officials at Anfield are decidedly not prepared to allow someone like Jarell Quansah to be used as a counterfeit in any deal that would bring the England international to Anfield.

After the season our Academy graduate had last season under Jurgen Klopp – who can blame us!
