Rebecca McKenna in action for Charlton Athletic last season

Northern Ireland right-back Rebecca McKenna has joined Championship side Birmingham City on a two-year deal.

The 23-year-old, who won 43 caps for her country, joined the Blues after a spell at Charlton Athletic. She has also attended Bangor, Glentoran, Linfield and Lewes.

The North Down woman said: “I want to get in and get going now. I’m excited to meet the girls. In the long run, this is what this club is all about.”

McKenna’s old club Linfield beat Mid Ulster 7-1 in the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership on Monday night. Scorers for the Blues at Midgley Park were Ebony Leckey (2), Eva Myles (2), Eve Reilly, Alex Clarke and Bernadette Ferreira.
