General Election 2024: What time do polling stations open and how to find your polling station

The 2024 UK General Election is just days away, and if you have any questions about how to get involved, we’ve got you covered. In this article, we’ve looked at what time the polls are open and how to find your polling station in Coventry.

In previous articles, we’ve looked at what ID you’ll need to take to cast your vote and all the key facts you need to be aware of.

The result of the general election will decide which political party leads the UK government for the next five years, so make sure you have your say.

What time can I vote?

When it comes to what time polling stations will be open, it’s the same regardless of where you live or which polling station you use. The polls will be open for people to cast their vote from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 4th July.

After the polls, the counting will begin with the first results starting to come in overnight in the early hours of Friday morning (July 5). CoventryLive will be running a live blog of all the local and national news tonight, so join us for the latest results then.

How do I find my polling station?

If you are on the electoral register, you will be sent a voting card by post before the election. This will tell you where and when to vote. The polling station is usually a school or local hall close to where you live.

You can only vote at the polling station mentioned on the voting card. For the first time in a UK general election, you will need ID to vote.

Coventry City Council has an online tool where you can enter your postcode to find your nearest polling station. You can find it Here .
