Former Horfield church earmarked for new homes could be yours for £100,000

A former church to be redeveloped into new homes has been auctioned for £100,000. Previous The Free Presbyterian Church, based on Ramsey Road in Horfield, was the previous home of Bristol Free Presbyterian Church.

The disused former chapel, based on a flat plot of approximately 223m², is currently up for auction with Maggs & Allen for £100,000. The brochure states that permission in principle was granted in May 2024 to redevelop the site to provide residential accommodation of a large house or two to three flats.

The new owners could still retain the existing land and building for community use. In its current state, the windows have been boarded up and the building requires further renovation and maintenance.

Its green space is also overrun and requires additional pruning and landscaping. However, the pews, tables and chairs inside the former chapel are excluded from the sale.

The brochure adds that the land is in a ‘sought after’ location on Ramsey Road and is situated just a short walk from various independent shops, restaurants and transport links on Gloucester Road. It was the home of the Bristol Free Presbyterian Church before its move to The Hub in Gainsborough Square in Lockleaze.
