Tribute to Mr Khan’s Jamaican grocery store owner as family say his ‘legacy lives on’

Tributes have been shared in memory of much-loved town shop owner Mr Khan’s. Sheraz Khan has run the authentic Jamaican grocery store in Winson Green for nearly four decades.

Loved ones revealed the sad news of the 68-year-old father’s death on social media. His funeral was held at Dudley Road Mosque, followed by his burial at Fallings Heath Cemetery, Wednesbury, on Friday, May 10.

Mourners said Mr Khan’s “legacy lives on” following the massive success of his family business since it was established in 1986. The Dudley Road supermarket, which he operates with son Danny, is the largest specialist in African food -Caribbean from Birmingham.

His family posted on Facebook: “Thank you so much to everyone who attended and helped today! Dad was definitely smiling and proud of each and every one of us. Alhamdulillah, such a great funeral and on one of the most blessed days. May Allah grant our father the highest rank in jannat ul Firdaus, please remember him and our family.”

Under the Instagram announcement of his death, one mourner said: “On behalf of the black community, thank you so much, rest in eternal peace.” Another said: “Rest Mr Khan. Your legacy lives on.” While another user added: ‘May his soul RIP. He was a good man.”
