Sheffield Wednesday currently lead the Championship table in an impressive statistic

Sheffield Wednesday currently lead the league for an impressive record.

Sheffield Wednesday have made a great start to the summer transfer window, with five new names already arriving in S6.

Free agent Ben Hamer became the first signing of the summer and the first permanent signing of the Danny Rohl era, soon followed by Max Lowe.

The Owls then completed the permanent signing of Yan Valery from Angers, the free signing of Svante Ingelsson from Hansa Rostock and then the free signing of Jamal Lowe from Bournemouth.

There are more set to join Sheffield Wednesday in the very near future as well.

Sheffield Wednesday are expected to sign Olaf Kobacki from Polish second-tier side Arka, while James Beadle has been to Sheffield to complete his return on loan from Brighton.

Reports also say that Sheffield Wednesday will sign Charlie McNeill following his release from Manchester United.

With the influx of new signings at Sheffield Wednesday, the Owls top the Championship for new signings made this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday have made five new signings in the Championship so far, which is more than any other team in the second tier.

Newly promoted duo Oxford United and Portsmouth made four signings each.

Many Championship sides are yet to make new signings, including Cardiff City, Luton Town, Millwall, Preston North End, Sheffield United and Swansea City.

Last season, Sheffield Wednesday made a total of 16 new signings, 12 of which came in the summer transfer window.

One man deserves praise at Sheffield Wednesday right now

There is a very positive atmosphere around Sheffield Wednesday right now and a lot of optimism that the club can do very well in the Championship next season.

Rohl and his staff rightly earn plaudits for instilling a new belief and vision in the club. Although credit must also go to owner Dejphon Chansiri.

He sorted out a new three-year contract for Rohl and has since shown the club to be one with ambition, evidenced by their activity in the transfer market so far this summer.

It comes after what was arguably Chansiri’s most difficult season at the club, highlighted by the emergence of The 1867 Group, who staged several protests against the property.

With new signings set to arrive very soon, adding to an already impressive number of signings, things are looking up for Sheffield Wednesday.
