Third arrest for murder after house fire kills two women

Detectives investigating the circumstances surrounding a serious fire which tragically killed two women have arrested a third man on suspicion of murder. Police have had more time to question two more men detained after the Wolverhampton tragedy this weekend.

Emergency services were called to an address in the Dunstall Hill area of ​​the city at around 2am yesterday (Saturday, May 11). Two women, aged over 20 years, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third woman is fighting for her life in hospital and remains in critical condition.




Three men were also rushed to hospital. Now West Midlands Police say a 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. It follows two other men, aged 19 and 22, who were detained yesterday on suspicion of murder. All three men were understood to know the women.

In their latest statement, the police force said: “We have arrested a third man as investigations into a fatal house fire in Wolverhampton continue.n Two women, aged in their 20s, have tragically died in following a fire at an address in Dunstall Hill. yesterday morning (May 11).

“Four other people were taken to hospital, three were not seriously injured, but one woman remains in a serious condition. We are still working with firefighters to establish the cause of the fire which happened just before 2am.

“As part of our inquiries, two men, aged 19 and 22, were arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder and officers. We have now been granted additional time to question them.

“We have further detained a 46-year-old man, understood to be known to the women, on suspicion of murder and he will also be questioned. A scene remains in place as we continue our inquiries to establish exactly what happened.”
