Sir Ed Davey braves choppy surf to highlight water pollution

Ahead of Thursday’s (July 4) general election, Sir Ed Davey took to the sea to highlight the problems facing water quality in rivers and seas. The Liberal Democrat leader took part in a surf lesson before hitting the waves in Bude earlier today.

As part of a surfing group, Ed is shown the basics of surfing before taking on the choppy water. Joined by a Surfers Against Sewage, Ed learned how to paddle and catch a wave, before taking to the water, unfortunately without much success.

As part of his campaign, Ed Davey made ending the sewer scandal a key campaign pledge ahead of the next general election. And what better way to commit to the cause than by getting into the water which receives frequent sewage and pollution alerts from the charity Surfers Against Sewage (SAS).
