Leeds fan ‘cut in throat’ and covered in blood in play-off semi-final at Norwich

A Leeds United supporter was allegedly slashed in the throat after the Yorkshire club’s play-off match with Norwich City.

The alleged attack took place outside Carrow Road after the first leg of the semi-finals on Sunday afternoon (May 12). The incident is said to have taken place after the man spoke to a group of Norwich fans about the alleged chants of the tragedy.

Tensions are understood to have flared after the game ended in a stalemate, leading to police intervention. According to the BBC, a man has been arrested, although this has not yet been confirmed by Norfolk Police.

User X @DorsetHottub posted on the website formerly known as Twitter saying the man who was stabbed was his father. He said, “It’s my father.. there was a blade he was found to have used.. also hit by a box in the neck.”

In another post, he said: “I walked out of Carrow Road after the game at Chants of Turks with knives and Galatasary.. as he asked the lads why it was said my dad was cut in the throat with a blade and hit by a full. maybe…if anyone knows anything please speak up #lufc #ncfc.”

Many X users posted to wish the man a speedy recovery and condemn the alleged violence. One Leeds fan said: “It’s a game of football. disgusting. I hope it is okay”. Another said: “Shocking – hope he’s ok.”

Norwich fans also condemned the alleged attack. One supporter posted: “To the #ncfc fan who put the #lufc fan down his throat, you are no place for him and anyone who saw it should speak up.”

Leeds fans have often suffered taunts from rival supporters, referring to the stabbing of two supporters who died before a match against Galatasaray in Istanbul, since the tragic incident in 2000.
