Coventry Hospital planning permission has been approved for a new cancer support centre

PLANNING permission has been granted for Coventry University Hospital to build a cancer support centre.

The new Maggie’s center will provide support for people with cancer as well as friends and family and is hoped to be open by 2027.

Professor Andy Hardy, chief executive of UHCW NHS Trust, said: “The center will make a real difference to patients who come here from across the area for treatment, as well as their family and friends.

“The patients we care for are often tired, stressed and emotionally and physically drained by their illness, so I’m sure they will be very welcome to have this fantastic facility and the extra support from Maggie’s specialist staff, which is designed to complete the work. we do here.”

Designed by Jamie Fobert Architects, the center will focus on well-being and sustainability, including the use of natural light and natural materials.

It will support 135,000 people living with cancer in the area.

Maggie’s now has 24 centers across the UK and is actively fundraising to deliver the center in Coventry.
