Man stabbed to death in Wiltshire village as woman arrested

A woman has been arrested after a man was stabbed to death in a Wiltshire village.

Emergency services responded to an incident at a property in Strawberry Fields, Easterton, near Devizes, at around 8pm yesterday (Monday, July 2).

A man, aged in his 40s, suffered stab wounds and was treated by medics – including a team from Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

Despite efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman, aged in her 50s, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody in Melksham to be questioned by detectives.

Wiltshire Police said those involved were “believed to be known to each other”.

A spokesman added: “We would like to reassure residents that we do not believe there is a wider risk to the public.

“There will be a police presence in the area overnight as our investigation continues.

“Anyone with information should call 101 quoting log number 291 of July 2.”
