Leeds United rejected a £30million bid from Brighton for Georginio Rutter this week.

The Whites are back in pre-season this week as Daniel Farke looks to get the side back into the Premier League at the second time of asking.

Much of his squad returned to Thorp Arch for initial testing this week, with training set to take place before pre-season games begin.

Brighton have rejected a £30m bid for Georginio Rutter

On the same day that Leeds sold Archie Gray to Tottenham, worrying news emerged regarding Georginio Rutter.

LeedsLive’s Beren Cross reported on Tuesday night that Leeds had received a £30m bid from Brighton for the Frenchman.

The offer in question was declined in the “last 48 hours” as the 49ers appear to be looking to keep the prized asset:

Selling Archie Gray for £40m, good or bad business?

Leeds shares timely social media posts amid Rutter news

As this was news, fans were rightly sent into a frenzy worried that another star player could be sold to the Premier League.

However, as the content came out of the first day of the preseason, so did a timely post from the club about Rutter.

Less than 10 minutes after the rejected bid was revealed, this post was shared by the all-smiling Frenchman in Thorp Arch:

Rutter cannot be sold by Leeds under any circumstances

There is no scenario in which selling Rutter makes even an iota of sense for Leeds this summer, for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, he cost us £36m, so even with 18 months of amortization behind him, he’s not going to be a huge return for PSR worth considering like Gray, Summerville or Gnonto.

Secondly, he was our most creative presence last season in attack and that brilliance in the final third is impossible to replicate at this level with one signing.

He is simply too good for Farke to consider selling because he often makes the difference in our performances.
