Birmingham is gearing up for a £4.5m Center City innovation hub

Bruntwood SciTech, the UK’s largest provider of property for the science, technology and innovation sectors, has officially started work on its ambitious £4.5m redevelopment of Birmingham’s Center City.

The iconic 210,000 sq ft building, originally built in the 1960s in Birmingham’s vibrant theater district, is set to undergo a transformative renaissance to become the city’s new central hub for innovation-driven business.

Through the redevelopment, Center City will offer state-of-the-art workspace and advanced wellness facilities. It represents a unique opportunity for businesses to expand and grow in a prime city center location within walking distance of New Street Station.

With construction underway, work on the redeveloped city center will be completed in January 2025, the new-look workspace could take a new name to reflect its transformation.

The 20-storey building will offer co-working and pay-as-you-go options, complementing its existing leased offices to provide flexible and scalable options for businesses at various stages of growth.

The transformation will also provide welcoming new internal spaces, including a spacious biophilia lounge and café, designed to foster collaboration and wellbeing. In addition, the basement will be transformed to include a high-quality fitness and weights studio, a contemplation room and a bicycle storage area, while the ground floor and central atrium will also undergo substantial renovations and impressive. The building’s new entrance will feature a stunning living wall, incorporating biophilic design into Birmingham’s vibrant city centre.

Center City boasts an excellent location, less than two minutes from Birmingham New Street Station and in close proximity to the Bullring shopping centre. This gives Center City customers unrivaled access to Birmingham’s extensive transport network, including the expanding West Midlands Tube network, as well as an extensive retail and amenity offer.

With limited space that has recently been made available, Center City offers a unique opportunity for businesses of all sizes looking to take advantage of a strategic downtown location, as the building offers flexible floor slabs ranging in size from 7500 to 23000 sqm.
