Volumetric developer and contractor Tide won three awards at the Tall Buildings Conference & Awards 2024. Tide successfully won the gongs for Tall Building Technology Innovation and Best Residential Tall Building Project.

In addition, the company was crowned “Winner of Winners” at the ceremony, which was hosted by NLA co-founder Peter Murray, who also presented the winners’ awards.

The Tall Building Technology Innovation Award recognized that Tide’s sister company and 3D volumetric specialist, Vision, and revolutionary offsite technology are revolutionizing tall building volumetric developments, delivering assets worth over £4 billion.

The Best Residential Tall Building Project Award category considered the efficiency shown in the delivery of one of the tallest volumetric developments in the world, College Road, which is opposite East Croydon station in south London.

The College Road scheme comprises two towers, one 35 storeys high and the other 50 storey building operating as Outpost Management Ltd’s Enclave: Croydon Build to Rent scheme.

Together, they contain almost 1,000 new homes. The development is also alongside another award-winning Tide volumetric development, Greystar’s Ten Degrees Build to Rent scheme, which is a 135m tower containing 546 apartments over 44 floors.

In addition, Tide and Vision BMCE and MJHSE engineers were commended for their work and significant involvement in the development of College Road.

“Such recognition means the world to us. But the work we do is the most important thing: delivering exceptional quality housing and amenities to those who need them quickly and efficiently, while reducing carbon emissions and delivering good returns for our investors and rapid return on investment. investment.”

As both developer and contractor for College Road, Tide was able to reduce traditional construction time by 40%. The efficiency of Vision’s offsite technology resulted in almost three-quarters of the floor plate of the entire development being installed in less than a third of the schedule, ensuring the 28-month delivery schedule.

During the event, Turner & Townsend Alinea (TTA) director and Chair of the Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat Council, Steve Watts, expressed his admiration for the work of Tide and Vision. He noted that the company’s award presentation was “a powerful reminder of how good volume can be.”

“Through Vision, we have delivered numerous high-rise buildings across the country, driving a growing trend to use modern construction methods to create comfortable, affordable and safe accommodation, from student accommodation to rental properties.

“We are passionate about leading the next generation of offsite development, one that will take us from a modular past to a sustainable, volumetric 3D future. Together with Vision, we will continue to drive the modernization of construction and real estate in the UK.”
