Man stabbed at Asda petrol station in Launceston

A man has been stabbed at an Asda petrol station in Launceston. Police were called on Tuesday, July 2, at 11:40 p.m., following reports that one of the victims had been stabbed in the back.

Another man was also attacked. Both victims are also believed to have been punched causing facial injuries, however their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.



Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for information and witnesses to come forward regarding the incident. A 20-year-old man from Launceston has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He remains in police custody, but officers are trying to find another suspect. Releasing a statement about the incident, police said: “Officers were called at 11.40pm on July 2 to the Asda petrol station in Launceston following a report that two men had been assaulted by the yard. One of the victims was reported to have been stabbed in the back.

“The injury is not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. Both victims are also believed to have been punched causing facial injuries. A 20-year-old man from Launceston has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody.

“Enquiries are underway to locate a suspect who is described as a white male with light brown or blond hair. He was believed to be wearing dark colored clothes and shoes. Anyone with information that could assist our investigation is asked to contact police on 101. 1005 of 2 July 2024.
