How Leicester City reacted to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s move to Chelsea

Leicester City are losing a ‘model’ for their academy prospects by saying goodbye to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The midfielder joined Chelsea in a £30million move on Tuesday, ending a 17-year association with City. Dewsbury-Hall grew up locally and joined the club aged eight, progressing from talented youngster to first-team star.

That journey is an inspiration to those working their way through the club’s youth ranks, Kasey McAteer said. The midfielder, who broke into the first team last season, was one of the players to wish Dewsbury-Hall well after his move was announced.

He said: “A role model for every boy in our academy to look up to. I can honestly say it was a pleasure to share a presentation with you and build a friendship away from it. Go smash it, bro.”

Jamie Vardy, Wilfred Ndidi, Conor Coady, Patson Daka, Tom Cannon and Luke Thomas were among the other players to wish Dewsbury-Hall well, but Hamza Choudhury had a particularly heartfelt message for the departed midfielder. The pair came through the ranks at City together, playing alongside each other in midfield at every age group.

Choudhury said: “My brother, I can’t begin to tell you how much you will be missed! It was years and years of hard work so that we could live our childhood dreams together! I wish you all the best bro and see you soon.”
