Camron Mpofu confirms he has signed for Manchester United and sends a message

Another promising youngster has confirmed he has signed for Manchester United’s academy.

Young Reading striker Camron Mpofu has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks. The interest was first reported by The Mail in May.

Now Mpofu’s move to Manchester United has been confirmed by the player himself.

Mpofu posted on Instagram holding up his Manchester United shirt with the name and number nine on the back.

Camron Mpofu confirms the move

Camron Mpofu has confirmed his move to Manchester United. The 15-year-old will join the club’s academy.

He wrote: “Proud to officially announce my signing for @manchesterunited.

“I would like to thank everyone who has helped me on this journey so far, especially my family, coaches and staff @readingfc The hard work continues.”

Mpofu is a youth international striker who has represented England – but recently made the switch to play for Scotland.

He will break into Manchester United’s under-16 squad and positive progress could be rewarded with minutes at under-18 level next season as well.

United always like to push for elite talent, with Amir Ibragimov and Finley McAllister making their under-18 debuts aged just 14.

Manchester United attract youth talent

Camron Mpofu is the latest recruit to Manchester United’s academy. He follows Ipswich Town’s Silva Mexes and Newton Abbot Spurs’ James Overy.

Another player to make the move is Dante Plunkett, who joined from Aston Villa.

Plunkett was named as one of 10 youth players awarded scholarships to Manchester United earlier this week, a list that also includes Ibragimov.

Mpofu will be busy trying to impress at Carrington knowing that the next step of his journey is just beginning and he cannot relax now.

This is a club with a history of promoting top talent, with 250 academy graduates brought into the first team. One day in the future, Mpofu will aim to join that illustrious list.
