PRESS RELEASE

Glowing Hearts Charity is excited to announce the return of their annual Backpacks for Youth program dedicated to supporting students from low-income households in Simcoe County. They are committed to making sure every child starts the school year with confidence and the tools they need to succeed.

Last year, GHC supported 2,054 students with backpacks, school supplies, packed lunches and water bottles, making a significant impact in the community. Building on this success, GHC aims to expand its reach and support even more students in 2024.

Parents or guardians of students in kindergarten through 12th grade who attend full-time in-person classes at publicly funded schools in Simcoe County are eligible to register for the program. Registration is open until August 9 and can be completed online through the GHC website or by calling 249-888-6695 for assistance.

Community workers with an organization who wish to register their clients for the program can do so throughout the year, except between August 10 and September 7, using the Community Worker Registration Form on their website.

Community involvement is crucial to the program’s effectiveness. GHC is inviting local businesses, organizations and individuals to get involved in the Backpacks for Youth supply drive. Register your team or see the list of locations accepting public participation at www.glowingheartscharity.org/supplydrive.

The Glowing Hearts Charity Backpacks for Youth program is more than just providing school supplies; it’s about giving kids the opportunity to start the school year off on the right track. By supporting this initiative, you are helping to empower disadvantaged children and young people.

“Glowing Hearts Charity remains committed to empowering children and young people by providing essential tools for academic success,” said Sarah Fleming, CEO and Chair of the Board. “Through the Backpacks for Youth program, we aim to remove educational barriers and ensure that every child in Simcoe County has an equal opportunity to thrive.”
