Brent Crews, Tristan McKee win in Wild CARS Night Tour at Caraway

“The best car doesn’t always win,” Hall said after finishing third. “My Autos By Nelson Group and I showed the car we prepared and brought. In terms of organization, we are making leaps and bounds. We say we want to be one percent better every week. I think I’ve taken it more than that lately.”

As Hall struggled to regain control of his car, William Byron pulled away to finish second in his first CARS Tour event of 2015. The 2024 Daytona 500 winner hopes to make more appearances in the series with JR Motorsports ahead.

“The racetrack is really good,” Byron said. “It’s imperative to get physical at the end, especially on a track like this. It’s kind of like Martinsville. Park in the center of the corner so it’s easy to get to someone.

“I’ve been watching some of these races over the last few years and the racing is really good. I hope I will have the opportunity to do something more. I would love to talk to Dale and maybe do a few a year. That would be a lot of fun. I love doing the Cup and Xfinity stuff, but it’s fun to come in midweek and run something like this.”

There was an extended red flag during the race after a wild ride for Corey Heim that ended with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series contender upside down on the frontstretch.

Heim made contact with Jacob Heafner, eventually pinning Heim’s car on the side of the outside wall. The car then flipped onto its roof as Heafner drove away from the incident.

Heim got out of the car under his own power.

“I was going back there for the most part,” Heim said. “I think my left-back was cut in the straightaway and I was a little off the pace. I guess the guy inside me didn’t see me.

“I’m fine, I just sat with my head down for 20 minutes, I was a bit dizzy. I probably yelled at some people I shouldn’t have. All good. I feel good, I’m just ready to go home.”
