Godiva Festival 2024, police warn troublemakers ‘will pop up anywhere’

Police have warned troublemakers they will “pop up anywhere” as they aim to make Godiva Festival 2024 trouble-free. In just over 24 hours, the three-day festival will begin at War Memorial Park.

It has been confirmed that a police operation, the ongoing ‘Servant Project’, will be in place and this will see high visibility and plainclothes officers patrolling around the park and town. Coventry Police said these deployments “can happen anywhere at any time”

“So don’t be alarmed if you see extra officers in town or around the festival footprint,” West Midlands Police said. “Officers will always be happy to explain more about why they are there and there is nothing to worry about if you notice an increased police presence in the town.”

Sup. Emma Spencer, from West Midlands Police, urged anyone going to the festival to do their part to keep people safe.

“You can help by staying alert and vigilant while you’re out and about. If you see something that doesn’t seem right, trust your instincts and tell security or the police immediately,” surf said. Spencer.

“It’s very important to report suspicious behavior immediately, so don’t wait for someone else to do it. You will never waste our time and we will always take reports seriously. Enjoy the festival and thanks for playing your part in keeping everyone safe this weekend.”

‘zero tolerance’

Councilor George Duggins, leader of Coventry City Council, urged all festival-goers to enjoy themselves but warned there would be a “zero tolerance” attitude towards trouble.

“Every year promises to be a fantastic weekend and while we aim to host a spectacular event for our audience, our number one priority is always the safety of those on site,” the council leader said.

“The festival site is a safe environment for festival goers of all ages and there will be plenty of security and police on site over the weekend.

Baggage checks are carried out on arrival and under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged 21 or over. We have zero tolerance for drugs on site and strongly encourage attendees to report any suspicious behavior to security or the police or seek assistance. if necessary.”

It was pointed out that first aid stations will be set up on the main court, plus a wellness hub on the main court.
