All fans of ITV’s Coronation Street say the same thing about Toyah’s tragic story

Fans of ITV’s Coronation Street have been left unimpressed by Toyah Battersby’s recent saga. Viewers have watched Toyah, played by Georgia Taylor, through some turbulent times in recent weeks.

Her sister Leanne, played by Jane Danson, is entangled with The Institute, a supposed “self-improvement group” run by the menacing Rowan Cunliffe, brought to life on screen by Emhrys Cooper. And earlier this year, it was revealed that Toyah got pregnant at just 19. Tragically, the baby was stillborn and Toyah buried her in the local redwoods recreation ground.

The secret was revealed to Leanne and Nick Tilsley, enforced by Ben Price, before Toyah was arrested following an anonymous tip-off to the police, who later discovered the remains of her baby Rose.

Although she was released without charge, it wasn’t hard for viewers to identify the likely whistleblower: Rowan. Further complicating the plot, Toyah has been secretly seeing Nick, unbeknownst to her sister, Express reports.

Events took an unexpected turn in Weatherfield on Wednesday July 3 when Toyah was rushed to hospital and given news of her pregnancy.

Clearly surprised, Toyah’s mouth fell open as Nick stared at him in disbelief. However, the home fans all echoed a similar sentiment.

On social platform X – formerly known as Twitter, one viewer voiced his theories saying: ‘Chuffing ‘eck! I could write this! I knew Toyah would be pregnant! And of course he’s going to keep it because that’s all he’s ever wanted. “

One viewer commented: “I thought about that the moment they slept together.”
