‘Massive coup’ – Hull KR secure 2025 signing?

Hull KR are in the process of building a special team under manager Willie Peters. The Robins proved this season that they can challenge the best when they won back-to-back games against Wigan and St Helens.

KR are also in the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup, having reached the final last year, and are threatening to break the mold of the same elite clubs always taking home season after season.

Earlier this week, their 2025 planning took a step forward. KR have announced the signing of highly rated forward Jack Brown from Hull FC. Yusuf Aydin moved in the opposite direction to a permanent deal.

They followed that up by securing the loan of Danny Richardson from Castleford Tigers, with the former St Helens scrum-half providing much-needed strength in depth behind Mikey Lewis and Tyrone May.

It is, on paper, a more fantastic signing from Rovers, who continue to impress in the transfer market as they look to become one of the competition’s most successful sides.

Speaking exclusively to Serious About Rugby League, former NRL and Super League forward Matt Adamson has revealed he believes the Robins could have already signed 2025.

According to Adamson, new prop Jared Waerea Hargreaves will make a huge impact in the Red and White next season. The 35-year-old New Zealand international will join from the Sydney Roosters.

When asked which NRL player he would most like to see in Super League, Adamson believes that player is “heading there already”, as he picked the Sydney Roosters man.

“Well, I think one of them actually will, which is Jared Waerea-Hargreaves,” Adamson said. “I have a lot of respect for him as a player because he still plays the game on a knife edge in his aggression and the dominance in which he drives play forward through that middle third.

“So I think it’s really exciting to go to Hull KR and the British fans. It’s a massive coup I think to get a player of this quality.”

Adamson enjoyed a spell in the Super League with Leeds Rhinos between 2002 and 2004. He was an important part of the team that laid the foundation for Leeds’ Golden Generation, winning the club’s first Super League title in his final season at Headingley.

As a former striker, Adamson is delighted to see a player of Waerea-Hargreaves’ stature in Super League. He is especially excited to see him play in front of the KR faithful.

“I like to see big, big, tough forwards like Jared. I think it will be outstanding and become a real crowd favorite for all KR fans. And they do a phenomenal job.

“It suits the British game down to the ground. He’s a massive blow to the competition because that’s what fans want to see more of, especially there, that physicality and aggression that British strikers are known for.

“So yes, when I look at which players would really thrive in Super League, I would go for him. It’s ironic because he’s already heading to the UK and has signed for Hull KR.

“Jared might be at the back end of his career, but you can’t tell the way he’s still playing and the level he’s performing at. He will be brilliant in the Super League.”
