Police statement regarding ‘violent knife disturbance’ at Bedworth Wetherspoons

Police patrols are being stepped up around Bedworth town center following a “violent knife disturbance” in a pub. Brawls broke out both inside and outside the Bear and Ragged Staff in King Street last night (July 2).

During that, one person was “armed with a knife,” police said. One man was left with facial injuries



Chief Inspector Kris Shore, head of North Warwickshire’s safer neighborhood teams, said it was a “concerning incident” and said there would be an increased police presence in the town as investigations continued.

A 17-year-old boy, from Bedworth, was arrested near Roanne Ringway on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of a knife. A 22-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of today, July 4, at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire on suspicion of violent disorder.

CI Shore said: “This was a worrying incident and officers were quickly on the scene. Two arrests have been made and we expect to speak to other people today about their involvement. Following the incident, we will have an increased police presence in the area. so if you have any concerns please speak to an officer.”

He also urged anyone with any footage of the incident to come forward, saying: “We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the disturbance, particularly if they have any footage of it.”
